Standing offer vs market offer
A standing offer is the safety-net plan. In NSW, South Australia and South East Queensland the AER’s Default Market Offer (DMO) caps that price from 1 July each year. Victoria uses the Victorian Default Offer.
For 2026–27 (from 1 July 2026) the AER cut most DMO standing-offer prices. Example flat-rate residential reference amounts: Ausgrid NSW A$1,899 a year at the published benchmark usage; Energex SEQ A$1,988; SAPN South Australia A$2,334. Your bill depends on usage — those figures are the regulator’s comparison points, not a promise.
Solar Sharer Offer
From 1 July 2026, retailers with more than 1,000 customers in DMO regions must offer eligible smart-meter households three hours of free electricity in the middle of the day. It is opt-in.
